"Democracy runs through our neighborhoods"

Track(ed) Changes is an impermanent public art project commissioned by Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) on the subject of Democracy. It was envisioned as a way to celebrate and share the depth of Chicago’s creative community via moving billboards that connect Chicago neighbors across communities. Its launch is timed to overlap with the Democratic National Convention, when all eyes will be on Chicago, and will continue running throughout the year.

(8) Chicago artists/groups were selected by curator Bob Faust, to share their ideas of democracy through their own lenses. The artists represent the creative depth of our city across mediums including, painting, collage, digital, textile and graphite, as well as career stages and paths, including (2) youth organizations that center art as communication and within the built environment. What holds the artists together is the way each is able to seamlessly bridge the disciplines of art and design, so integral to a project that presents the work in the form of “moving” murals on full train wraps, traveling through the south, west and north side communities and connecting the United Center to both Midway and O’Hare airports.
